report says 63% employees crave recognition at workplace

Come to think of it, why do professionals work hard to prove their mettle at work? One reason could be they want to justify the salary they're drawing. It is also possible they want to prove to be a valuable resource to the company. However, one of the underlying reasons why a professional feels driven to put in their best at what they do is to secure a place in the good books of their boss. It's human need to seek validation, isn't it? It always feels nice when one's work is appreciated and one is deemed as a competent person.

As per a recent report by Indeed, over 63% employees emphasise on getting acknowledgement from people in leadership positions. It was also highlighted in the report that recognition from senior leaders and openness at work are the most important factors in fostering a positive workplace culture. For the report, 3,005 people were polled, of which 30% were C-suite executives and remaining were employees.

It came to light that 62% employees felt happier when their efforts are appreciated by their team and 58% stressed on the importance of having their opinions and ideas welcomed by their immediate colleagues.

"It's clear that acknowledgement and a safe, open environment are at the heart of a thriving workplace. Employees want to feel that their voices are heard and that their contributions matter. Companies that make recognition and inclusion core to their culture will be better positioned to attract, retain, and inspire a motivated workforce. Addressing these areas is not just good for employee well-being, but also it's good for business," Indeed India Head of Sales Sashi Kumar commented.

Nearly 64 per cent of employees said their companies promote creative thinking, helping them feel more connected, while 61 per cent appreciated the freedom to express themselves openly, feeling more engaged in workplaces that foster idea-sharing and inclusion, according to the report.
