Renault's sister brand Dacia recently launched the Duster SUV in the international market. Now, the brand plans on launching the three-row SUV based on the Duster which will be called Bigster in the international market. The SUV will make its debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show which is scheduled between October 14 to October 20. Before the unveiling, the brand released a teaser revealing a few details of the design while maintaining secrecy over the details.
The newly revealed teaser of the Dacia gives a sneak peek at the rear end of the car with most of the body panels under a veil. However, the brand has revealed the name "Bigster" in the SUV confirming the name that will be used on the production version of the vehicle.
The SUV is expected to launch sooner or later in the Indian market. If launched in the country, it will sit on the top of the lineup placed right above Duster. Standing at 4.6 meters in length, the SUV is relatively longer to make space for the third row. Considering the current Indian market, the model will be entering the territory of SUVs like Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
It is to be noted that when launched in India the Bigster will have the same design as the international version. However, instead of a Dacia badge, it will be a Renault-badged version along with a few tweaks that might be seen in the form of a new grille in synch with Renault's design language.
The Renault Bigster is expected to be based on the CMF-B platform as the Duster and hence will have similar components as well. It is also expected to have the same engine options as the Duster using a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with the option of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. It is expected to get 4×2 and 4×2 powertrain modes.
