The Press Information Bureau (PIB) issued a statement on November 11, 2024, that said the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), M. Nagaraju, led a meeting with all stakeholders engaged in executing the new Know Your Customer (re-KYC) process for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account holders.

In the meeting, Nagaraju proposed utilizing every method for re-KYC, including fingerprints, facial recognition, and taking declarations when there was no change in KYC documents, via all channels like ATMs, mobile banking, internet banking, and various digital platforms. He stated that banks should also aim to adopt best practices as adopted by other similar banks.

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a nationwide initiative for financial inclusion. The strategy aims to provide universal access to banking services, ensuring that ‘every adult’ has at least one basic banking account. Accounts that were opened under this scheme from August 2014 to December 2014 will be eligible for re-KYC. He said that “approximately 10.5 crore PMJDY accounts were opened in the mission” and that they are all now in line to get their re-KYC done as 10 years have passed since the accounts were opened.

Re-KYC is essential for any bank account holder to ensure that the client’s details are not outdated and still relevant. This helps the financial institutions to stay updated on their client’s personal details and contact information.

Here is how you can get your re-KYC done in the following banks:
