After conquering Bangladesh in the first Test match of the series, India are hosting the visitors in the second game in Kanpur. The Rohit Sharma-led side registered a big 280-run win the opening game and is aiming to continue its undefeated run against Bangladesh. All-rounders, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in India's win in Chennai with their all-round heroics.
Jadeja, who is once again sharing the all-round duties with Ashwin, is on the cusp of a huge record in Kanpur. The left-handed batsman is just one wicket away from completing 300 wickets in Tests.
The moment Jadeja will take his first wicket of the Kanpur Test match, he will become the third Indian all-rounder to score 3000 runs and scalped 300 wickets. Kapil Dev was the first Indian to achieve this record.
The former India captain scored 5248 runs and scalped 434 wickets in 131 Tests. Kapil was once the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. Ashwin has 3422 runs and 523 wickets.
Jadeja has scored 3122 runs and scalped 299 wickets so far. The star Indian all-rounder looks all but set to complete 300 wickets soon.
Jadeja will also become the second-quickest player to score 3000 runs and scalp 300 wickets should he take a wicket in Kanpur. Ian Botham, who took 72 matches to achieve this feat, sits at the top spot.
Bangladesh lose 3 wickets on day 1
Bangladesh lost three wickets on the first day of the 2nd Test match. A play of only 35 overs was possible on the opening day due to rain in Kanpur. Akash Deep scalped 2 wickets while R Ashwin scalped the third wicket of the day.
Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim will kick off the proceedings for the visitors on the second day of the play. There is a prediction of rain on day 2 as well.
