Renowned Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt attended the IFP (India Film Project) held in Mumbai today (October 12). It was his first visit to India for the IFP Season 14 Opener, On Mastering the Art of Embodying a Character & Building HitRecord. Rajkummar Rao joined Joseph on stage for an insightful conversation about cinema.

During the session at the IFP, Rajkummar taught Joseph the hook step of his recent chartbuster song, Aayi Nai from Stree 2. The Inception actor observed the steps closely and did a fantastic job. A video shared on IFP’s Instagram page featured the fun moment.

Joseph appreciates Gangubai Kathiawadi
While talking to Rajkummar, Joseph shared his admiration for Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, describing it as an exceptionally unique and beautiful film. He recalls, “I was just watching that movie and found it so unique and beautiful – completely different than really anything I’d seen. It was this very heavy, distinguished drama that felt almost like a (Martin) Scorsese movie at times. But then there are these gorgeous musical numbers that felt so sincere and well crafted. And I found myself completely enamored with this film. It made me want to learn more and more about Indian cinema. It’s honestly part of why I wanted to come here. I love what I’m feeling about the culture here. There’s such a genuine love for movies and artistry, and I want to come here and make a movie in India. I would really love to do that.”
Joseph has acted in various projects. He is best known for his performances in 10 Things I Hate About You, 500 Days of Summer, and Inception. The actor was also in Killer Heat. Now, he has an exciting lineup of projects including K Troop, Wingmen, and Nobody Nothing Nowhere.
