Two-time Olympic medallist and former world champion shuttler PV Sindhu is all set to tie the knot with executive director of Posidex Technologies, Venkata Datta Sai on December 22 in Udaipur. Sindhu, who recently ended her prolonged title drought with a success at the Syed Modi International in Lucknow is getting ready for the special celebration.
PV Sindhu is hailed as one of India's greatest athletes, winning five World Championship medals, including a gold in 2019, alongside her silver and bronze from the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The badminton star achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in 2017.
"The two families knew each other but it was only a month ago that everything was finalised. This was the only possible window as her schedule will be hectic from January," Sindhu's father, PV Ramana, told PTI.
"So that is the reason the two families decided to have the marriage ceremony on December 22. The reception will be held in Hyderabad on December 24. She will start her training soon after as the next season is going to be important'', he further added.
This is a moment of pure synergy between Sindhu's personal happiness and her consistent dedication to her sport. Her wedding, which she will soon be attending, will surely be a beautiful and memorable occasion, celebrating the tremendous achievements and the thrill of what lies ahead for one of India's best sportswomen.
Recently, Sindhu, in partnership with Lakshya Sen, reached the Syed Modi International 2024 badminton finals in Lucknow.
Sindhu also got a chance to end a two-year drought of titles on the BWF World Tour. She defeated 17-year-old compatriot Unnati Hooda 21-12, 21-9 in the women's singles semi-finals of the BWF Super 300 tournament. A two-time Olympic medal winner, PV Sindhu will face People's Republic of China's Wu Luo Yu, ranked 119th, in the final on Sunday. The Indian badminton player's last BWF World Tour title came in July 2022 when she won the Singapore Open.
