The Puducherry Government has announced holiday for all the schools and colleges tomorrow. All the educational institutes will remain closed on October 16 due to incessent rains. The government said that all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed amid weather department forecasting heavy rains. Home Minister A Namassivayam said all the privately managed institutions and government aided schools would also be shut tomorrow.
In a meeting today, Lt Governor K Kailashnathan reviewed the steps taken by the government machinery in view of heavy rins. He was briefed by the officials of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management on the measures taken to ensure that relief and rehabilitation works would be geared up in Puducherry and Karaikal regions. Collector A Kulothungan said in a release that control rooms and relief camps have been opened in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
PTI reports him saying that the Lt Governor was apprised of the preparedness of the 62 teams of personnel of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) who reached here on Monday from Arokonam. The government has made all arrangements to rise to any exigency.
Chennai, Bengaluru Schools Closed Tomorrow
Tamil Nadu government has announced that all the schools, colleges, government offices and public sector (except essential services) will remain closed tomorrow in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts due to heavy rains. Even Bengaluru Schools and colleges will remain closed tomorrow due to heavy rains as yellow alert for heavy rainfall have been issued for 13 districts in the state. To read more,click here.
