The 2024 Melbourne Championships, a part of the PPA Tour Australia, came to a close on Sunday, November 10 with the final round of doubles matches. The tournament attracted quite a few big names from across the world, a large number of who were spotted at the recent PWR DUPR India Masters last month as well. Not just professionals, but a few amateurs also participated in the tournament.

More than $700,000 (over Rs 5 crores) has been at stake for prize money at the PPA Australia Tour as six events across this year have presented opportunities for picklers to hone their skills.

Some of the best players took on each other at the Melbourne Champs, with the singles competitions ending on November 9.

In the men's doubles, the Indian duo of Armaan Bhatia and Harsh Mehta, who won the India Masters title, finished off with a bronze after beating Roman Estareja and Oliver Grey. George Wall and Joseph Wild landed the silver after losing 11-4, 0-11, 5-11 to Kyle Yates and Mitchell Hargreaves.

In the women's doubles, Michelle Esquivel and Danni Elle-Townsend won the bronze after defeating Kaitlynn Hart and Andie Dikosavljevic. Liz Truluck and Kao Pei Chuan finished off with the silver after losing 11-8, 5-11, 9-11 to Sarah Burr and Michaela Haet. Notably, Chuan finished as runners-up in the women's singles event at the India Masters.

In the mixed doubles, Esquivel and Rob Cassidy won the bronze after beating Hat and Lucas Pascoe. Notably, this was Esquivel's second bronze from the Melbourne Championships.

Emilia Schmidt and Hargreaves landed the silver after losing 6-11, 5-11 to Shelby Bates and Bhatia. Hargreaves thus finished with one gold and one silver while Bhatia had one gold and one bronze to his name.
