The 39-year-old was arrived in France aboard his private jet. The local media channel added that he has been declared persona non grata. Officials are yet to issue a statement about the billionaire's reported arrest.
Former kickboxer and controversial social media personality Andrew Tate first broke the news. "The owner of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has just been arrested in France for failing to censor the truth on his application. Potential charges include support for terrorism, drug trafficking, complicity in crimes, mass fraud, money laundering, concealment, pedophile content, sanctions evasion, and more. They want to control information everywhere," he said on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
