over 100 aircraft, spy planes: how israel carried op 'days of repentance' against iran

New Delhi: The Israel Defence Forces said that it has successfully “fulfilled” its mission to target military establishments in Iran. Over 100 planes, including the cutting-edge F-35, flew 2,000 kms under the operation dubbed by the military “Days of Repentance.” The airstrikes were in retaliation for Tehran’s attacks on Israel earlier this month.

According to several media reports, including those from Iran, strikes were reported at military sites in Tehran and Karaj. The Israeli warplanes initially struck radar and air defense systems, clearing the path for subsequent strikes on military bases.

Dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft, including fighter jets, refuelers, and spy planes, participated in the strikes.

Israel Security Cabinet Authorised Airsrikes

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant were at the military headquarters in Tel Aviv while the attack was launched, Netanyahu's office said.

The IDF confirmed the operation steered clear of nuclear and oil facilities to prevent wider conflict escalation.

The mission was authorised by the Security Cabinet, a senior Israeli official said.

"In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel—right now the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran. The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th—on seven fronts—including direct attacks from Iranian soil. Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond. Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized. We will do whatever is necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel," the IDF said on Twitter.
