Former One Direction band member Liam Payne passed away after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday. The head of the Buenos Aires' public emergency medical services confirmed Payne's death in a statement, as per local media reports. He was 31.
The police have stated that the singer-songwriter fell from the third floor of his hotel room, Casa Sur Palermo Hotel. Local police said that they have started an investigation.
Eye witnesses reported that the singer was acting weird in the hotel lobby. He broke his laptop and was carried back to his hotel room.
Liam Payne had been in Argentina to attend his former bandmate Niall Horan's concert show. He joined One Direction as a teenager and was considered to be one of the lead song writers for the group.
According to reports from TMZ, the One Direction star had revealed in 2021, that he got addicted to prescribed drugs and alcohol during his tour with the band. He struggled with the addictions and the situation worsened to a point that he had suicidal thoughts.
Also, earlier this week, there were reports that said Liam's ex- girlfriend Maya Henry had accused him for asking her to get a home abortion. This had sparked an outrage over the social media.
Many people gathered outside the hotel where the incident occurred. Most of them were reportedly seen recording videos on their phones.
The late singer songwriter is now survived by his parents Karen and Geoff and two elder siblings, Ruth and Nicola.
