Ravichandran Ashwin continued his ravishing form as he guided India to a massive 280 runs victory over Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai. The 38 year old shone with the ball again as his six wicket haul paved the way for a brilliant win on home soil.
Ashwin's excellent batting act in the first inning rescued the Indian team from a collapse. Ashwin brought up his 6th Test century as he forged a 199-run partnership with Jadeja in the first inning to tilt the game in India's favour.
Ashwin has matched MS Dhoni's century count in Test matches and could eclipse the former Indian skipper as he still has a lot to play for in the coming days. He is expected to play a pivotal part in the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand and in the Australia tour where Rohit Sharma's men will be involved in a five match Test series.
Ashwin heaped praises on Jadeja as he insisted Jadeja has a very inspirational story.
As quoted by the Hindustan Times he said, "He's been a very inspirational story. Many of these occasions over the last 3-4 years, when he's walked in to bat, I feel so calm and composed in the dressing room. It’s such an inspirational story about how he's found his off-stump, how he's contributed."
"Now, that admiration has gone one step higher, knowing that I can never beat Jadeja. So, I'm comfortable in my skin, but totally inspired by what he's done," he also added.
“Jadeja on the field is a fire. He's a rocket on the field. So, all in all, I envy him. I'm jealous of him but totally admire him. I've learnt to admire him for the last 4-5 years, even more than I have in the past.”
