not virat kohli or rohit sharma! australia pacer josh hazlewood names two batters yashasvi jaiswal shubman gill being targetted in border-gavaskar trophy

India have begun their long Test season with a two-match Test Series against Bangladesh, as they are currently engaged in the first Test of the series. This is just the first of a series of 10 matches till early January 2025, which would strengthen their chances of reaching the final of the World Test Championship for a third consecutive time. The stiffest test will be a five-match series against Australia for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy that begins from November 22. While it is expected that the Australians would plan for the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, star pacer Josh Hazlewood revealed a totally different plan altogether.

More Focussed Towards Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill: Josh Hazlewood

In an interaction with Star Sports, Josh Hazlewood said that they are more focused towards the newer players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill since they haven't bowled to them in Test matches that often. Meanwhile, having bowled to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma multiple times over the years, the plan for them does not change that much.

"The strategy is probably more focused on the newer players we haven’t played much Test cricket against, like (Yashasvi) Jaiswal and even Shubman Gill, who we’ve only faced a few times. We’ve played against Virat (Kohli), Rohit (Sharma), and others for years, so we know what to do. The plan doesn’t really change that often. It’s about the basics; doing them well and for a long time," Hazlewood said.

Australia Will Win Border-Gavaskar Trophy 5-0: Nathan Lyon's BOLD Prediction

Legendary Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who will be an integral part of the Australia side in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has sounded a huge warning for India, by predicting that the home side would clean sweep the series 5-0, and win the trophy for the first time in 10 years.

“It’s been 10 years since we have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. I started thinking about this series when England were over in India, watching them to go about it. I love the game and I will watch a decent Test match but I have eyes on this series for a long time now. My prediction is 5-0 to Australia,” Lyon told Sky Sports
