The Delhi Capitals recently parted ways with Ricky Ponting as the franchise's head coach. In a recent interview, former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is the current Director of Cricket Operations at the franchise had expressed interest in taking up a coaching role at the franchise. However, it looks like his former protege and legendary India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh might become a part of the franchise for IPL 2025.

According to a report by Sportstar, Delhi Capitals are keen on bringing in Yuvraj Singh as part of the coaching setup of the franchise. However, a final decision is awaited on the matter.

Earlier reports stated that Gujarat Titans were set to replace Ashish Nehra with Yuvraj Singh. However, it looks like that the IPL 2022 champions are looking at a former Indian player to replace Gary Kirsten, who has gone on to become the white-ball head coach of Pakistan.

The report further states that Delhi Capitals are looking to bolster their batting order in the IPL 2025 auctions and with the departure of Ricky Ponting, they are looking at someone of the calibre of Yuvraj Singh to act as a mentor to the batters. Yuvraj does not have prior coaching experience but has worked with Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and a few other Punjab batters over the years.

Sourav Ganguly had earlier expressed his desire to become a coach at the franchise. However, he is expected to be at the helm of overall affairs at the franchise as the Director of Cricket Operations, according to the report.

Yuvraj Singh has earlier player for Delhi Capitals. At the IPL 2015 auction, the franchise picked him up for Rs 16 crore, making him the highest-paid player ever in the IPL at that point of time. He scored 248 runs from 14 matches for Delhi Capitals that year and was released ahead of the IPL 2016 auction.
