Real Madrid haven’t been at their very best this season. Los Blancos have endured a shaky start and multiple injuries have further worsened their campaign.
Madrid lost three players in their 4-0 win over Osasuna in the La Liga putting further pressure on Carlo Ancelotti who already has a mountain to climb. Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Lucas Vazquez had to be replaced after receiving injuries.
Now it has emerged, the reigning Spanish champions are looking for reinforcements in the transfer market and have identified Aymeric Laporte as a possible replacement. Laporte currently plies his trade for Al-Nassr, the same club which also currently is the home of Cristiano Ronaldo.
As per a Ramon Alvarez de Mon report, Ancelotti has set his sights on the Spanish defender. Laporte moved to Saudi Arabia from Manchester City last year and has been a constant presence in the heart of the Al Nassr backline.
The 30 year old has a contract until 2026 and should he have to leave Al Nassr, Madrid will have to pay a hefty transfer fee as it stands. The Spanish giants are reportedly unwilling to meet Al Nassr’s demands and might try to take the player on a six month loan deal which is seemingly difficult at this juncture.
Laporte would also have to take a substantial pay cut in a bid to return to European football and it remains to be seen how things take place in the January transfer window.
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti blamed the fixture congestion for the piling of injuries. As quoted by Madrid Universal he said, “Three injuries in the 1st half is not normal. This calendar doesn’t allow players to rest.”
“We will evaluate in the coming months because now there is nothing to do. We must try to recover the maximum possible players and we will evaluate what can be done.”
“I don’t think about the transfer market because we have games until the Christmas break. I have to prepare the games with the players I have.”
