no water supply in noida's sector 51 forces residents to resort to illegal measures

Noida: Residents of Sector 51 in Noida have resorted to using submersible pumps as the water woes in their area could be fixed for days. A day after RWAs met with Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M to discuss various civic issues, residents alleged that they did not receive water for the fourth day in a row. Therefore, they opted for submersible pumps against the rules. Residents mentioned that the CEO asked the authorities to address the water supply issue to the affected area but no action has been taken so far.

"Friday marked the fourth day that our sector has faced water shortage problems. There's no water supply in the sector, and the residents are extremely upset. The situation is chaotic," said Sanjeev Kumar, RWA general secretary of Blocks C to F in Sector 51, quoted by TOI.

Kumar, who is also a vice president of DDRWA, said natives are extremely frustrated by the situation that some had started installing submersible pumps in their homes.

"On Friday, the installation of submersible pumps began in many areas of the sector. The Noida Authority is to blame for this, as they have failed to provide enough drinking water to the sector's residents," a frustrated Kumar said.

He added that water department officials needed to leave their air-conditioned offices and come to the ground to solve the problem. "We've complained to everyone, from junior to senior officials, and even through X and WhatsApp. The residents are angry that even after meeting with the CEO, nothing has been done," he said.

In addition to the water shortage, residents also raised other civic issues at Thursday's meeting. These included the lack of horticultural work in many sectors, the absence of fire-fighting measures in banquet halls, delays in garbage collection, and the need for tree pruning, especially in Arun Vihar. These problems also remain unresolved, according to the residents.
