The Carolina Panthers haven’t had the desired start to the current NFL season. They have lost back to back games to New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers and are under tremendous pressure to deliver.
As per reports, the Panthers are benching their starting quarterback Bryce Young for their next match. Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton will take over his place. The 2023 no. 1 overall pick hasn’t been consistent and has just 31 of 56 passes for 244 yards so far this season.
He was the preferred choice last season and his stats read 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and 2877 yards of throwing. But he has lost 16 out of the 18 matches he started and head coach Dave Canales confirmed on Monday that Dalton will start the match against the Raiders.
As quoted by USA Today he said, "This is the best decision for our group moving forward. "Andy Dalton gives us the best chance…I watched the film. Ultimately this falls on me. I feel this is the best decision to help the Panthers win."
Bryce has faced severe criticism for his performance and insisted he knows everyone is frustrated. As quoted by Marca he said, "I understand the frustration.
"I know this city loves the Panthers. That passion is something I respect, and I share that same fire. We're all disappointed, but this is part of the journey."
"I draw confidence from the Lord," he said. "I've been blessed beyond measure, and while this isn't the start I envisioned, I believe everything happens for a reason. My faith is stronger than any setback."
Carolina Panthers will face the Las Vegas Raiders in the next game.
