Noida: A few persons in Greater Noida allegedly poured petrol and tried to burn the minor son of their neighbour over some dispute. When the parents of the boy and some others tried to take him to a hospital in an e-rickshaw, the accused neighbours allegedly did not allow them to take the injured to the hospital.

The father of the victim said that neighbour Vishal, his father and a person named Manoj were behind the attack who poured petrol and burnt the legs of his son. The incident took place in the Greater Noida Dadari police station area in Uttar Pradesh.

He said the boy himself tried to douse the blaze. The boy was seen with plasters in both his legs. His family said that they informed the police but got no support from them.

Over 280 Burn Cases Reported in Delhi

Meanwhile, on Diwali, the national capital reported over 200 cases of burn injuries, largely caused by firecrackers, reported PTI.

Safdarjung Hospital, which has the largest burn unit in the country, reported the highest number with 117 cases on Thursday. This was followed by 48 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and 19 at LNJP Hospital, the report added.

Hospital authorities said that 102 of these patients suffered minor burns and were treated on an OPD basis, while 15 with major burns were admitted. 20 of these are children below the age of 12 years, the authorities said, as per PTI.

The hospital officials said 86 cases were of firecrackers burns while 31 suffered injuries due to diya burns. They added that five of them needed surgery due to severe hand injuries from firecrackers.

At AIIMS-Delhi, 48 cases were reported in its Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Burn Surgery from 7 pm on Diwali night until 7 am on November 1, according to Dr Rima Dada, the professor in charge of the facility's media cell, quoted PTI.
