On Wednesday, Nashua, New Hampshire, authorities responded to reports of gunfire in the Bellcrest Road area. As the situation developed, police recommended citizens to stay indoors. First responders were seen on television at the area, and the residential neighborhood was encircled by a heavy police presence.
No more information about possible casualties was immediately available, although authorities said the event was limited to a single property. Police promised the public that once the situation was under control, more updates would be given. Tensions increased as the situation developed, and the public was advised to use caution.
Separate Incident Identifies June Shooting Victim
Officials have identified the guy who was shot and killed by Nashua police in June in a different, previous incident. On the evening of Sunday, June 9, Ryan Prudhomme, 41, of Pelham, was shot and killed outside a Lowe’s Home Improvement shop. Prudhomme died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to an autopsy.
At around 8:45 p.m., Prudhomme was approached by Nashua police outside the Daniel Webster Highway business. The attorney general's office claims that Prudhomme had a firearm on him. Officers tried to use "less-lethal" ammunition to bring him down. But Prudhomme was eventually killed by live shots fired by another police.
Although Prudhomme received life-saving treatment on the spot, he did not make it out alive. The designation of the occurrence as a murder was explained by Assistant Attorney General Adam Woods, who stated that the word does not indicate legal blame or responsibility but rather refers to the killing of one person by another. As authorities evaluate the incident in light of a more comprehensive legal framework, the inquiry into the circumstances is still ongoing.
