What are the famous must-try street foods every person in Mysuru must try?

Dry Gobi from Prabu’s Dry Gobi near Marimalappa College is an absolute must. They serve a fantastic dry gobi that’s perfectly spiced and has the right level of crispiness. Another unique option I’d recommend is the Smoked BBQ Taxi, which is available in some areas across Mysuru.

What are your go-to hangouts in the city?

My favourite hangout spot is Jini’s Pilates and Wellness Cafe, which is a peaceful spot with a healthy menu. When I’m looking for a more filling meal, I go to the Original Hanumanthu Palav Restaurant. This place is iconic for its traditional Mysuru- dishes that are deeply satisfying.

Are there any hidden gems in Mysuru that one shouldn’t miss?

Everyone talks about Mylari Dosa, which is a Mysuru classic, but not many people know about the original spot, Mahadeshwara Mylari. It’s not as popular as some newer spots, but this place serves authentic dosa that’s so soft, fluffy and full of flavour. If you’re looking to experience the real Mylari Dosa, you should visit here!

What are some of the most overrated meals in the city?

I think momos are quite overrated in Mysuru. While momos are popular here, the authenticity of flavour isn’t quite there. Those who have had authentic momos will likely be disappointed, as the texture and flavour just don’t match up to the traditional taste.

Which areas of Mysuru are best for exploring food?

Vijay Nagar’s Water Tank Food Street is a fantastic area for food exploration. Here, you can find a wide variety of street food options, from snacks to desserts, all in one place. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to try multiple dishes in a single evening.

What are the famous must-try street foods every person in Mysuru must try?

Mysuru has some iconic street food that you can’t miss. Mysore Churmuri, a spicy puffed rice snack, is a local favourite. Then there’s Masale Puri, a spicy, tangy chaat dish that’s highly popular. I’d also suggest trying Gobi Manchurian, which is an Indo-Chinese take on cauliflower and the classic Masala Dosa and Idli that Mysuru is known for.

What are your go-to hangouts in the city?

When I want to relax, I head to White Teak, which has a modern vibe and is perfect for a chill evening. SAPA and Corner House are also on my list. SAPA is cozy with great food, and Corner House serves some of the best ice cream in the city, specially the DBC (Death by Chocolate) that’s a must-try for dessert lovers.

Are there any hidden gems in Mysuru that one shouldn’t miss?

Yes, there are quite a few! For instance, the Kodubale from Bhavani Condiments is amazing; it’s a crispy, spicy snack made of rice flour and spices. Sahana Snacks’ Nippit is another gem. Then there’s Bada Makaan Idly, Sajje Palak Dosa from Idly Katte, and the Onion Pakoda from Chutti Bajji. These are unique to Mysuru and often overlooked by visitors but are truly worth trying!

What are some of the most overrated meals in the city?

I think Mylari Dosa, despite its popularity, doesn’t always live up to the hype, and Usman Gobi can be a bit overrated too. These dishes are good but don’t always meet the high expectations people have of them.

Which areas of Mysuru are best for exploring food?

Kuvempu Nagar, Vijayanagar, and Siddhartha Layout are great places to explore food. Each has a different vibe and plenty of options, from small local eateries to street food vendors.

Some iconic spots include Santosh Chats on Valmiki Road, which serves a variety of chaat items, and Amruth Gobi in TK Layout, known for their gobi (cauliflower) dishes. Shawarma Point at Bogadi Circle has a loyal following, and if you’re looking for something healthy, Sprouts Chats near Kukkralli Lake is a good choice. For breakfast, Manjunatha Tiffany’s near Kukkralli Lake Signal serves fantastic Akki Rotti which is a traditional rice-based flatbread.

What are your go-to hangouts in the city?

For a nice ambiance, I often go to Malgudi Cafe at the Green Hotel, which has a nostalgic connection. Sky Deck, The Barge, Old House, and Mysore Union are also on my list for their great vibes, varied menus and chill atmosphere.

Are there any hidden gems in Mysuru that one shouldn’t miss?

Definitely check out Sandhya’s House for a home-cooked experience. Majjige Kodbale near Jaganmohan Palace is another rare find—it’s a crispy snack with a unique taste. Then there’s Kashaya at Chamundeshwari Tea Stall in front of MUDA, which serves a herbal drink known for its health benefits. Halli Hatti near Chamundi Hill Road and Ruchi Mess in Shivrampete also serve amazing traditional food that you shouldn’t miss.

What are some of the most overrated meals in the city?

Usman Dry Gobi, Hanumanthu Hotel and Mylari Dose get a lot of attention but might not meet everyone’s expectations. SAPA is also quite hyped, but it doesn’t always live up to it.

Which areas of Mysuru are best for exploring food?

V.V. Mohalla, Gokulam, Kuvempunagar, Vijayanagar and Siddhartha Layout have a range of options, from street food to fine dining. Each neighborhood has its own specialties, making them great for food exploration.

Idli, biryani, and Mysore’s signature dosa are essential dishes to try here. The dosa in Mysuru has its own unique texture and flavour that sets it apart from dosas elsewhere, and the biryani here has a rich taste with a blend of spices that’s hard to resist.

I like Cane Pub in KG Koppal for a laid-back vibe and King’s Coffee is a great spot for coffee lovers. Ruchi Mess is perfect for authentic local meals and JC Campus Canteen serves one of the best burgers in Mysuru—definitely worth a try.

Are there any hidden gems in Mysuru that one shouldn’t miss?

Vijayanagar Chat Street is amazing for street food, specially at Bhairava Gobi Corner. There’s also a wood-fired pizza place nearby that’s quite unique. Plus, there’s an 80-year-old pani puri shop in Kuvempu Nagar that has a classic charm, and an elderly man who sells churmuri near City Center, which is a nostalgic snack for many locals.

What are some of the most overrated meals in the city?

Mysore Pak, Hotel Hanumanthu, RRR Hotel and Empire can sometimes be overhyped. They’re good, but there are lesser-known places that serve similar or even better food.

Which areas of Mysuru are best for exploring food?

Kuvempu Nagar, Vijayanagar 1st Stage and the City Center area have diverse options for exploring food, from traditional snacks to modern cafes.

Mysuru has some truly unique street foods. You absolutely have to try the Egg Pizza and Egg Chilli at Mysore Egg Palace near the DC Office. For a vegetarian favourite, Gobi Manchurian at Amruth Gobi in Siddhartha Layout’s chat street is a must. The Special Masala Puri at Santoshima Pani Puri in Agrahara and the Grape Juice near the RTO round out my top recommendations.

Honestly, I wouldn’t label anything as overrated. Mysuru offers something for every palate, and each dish has its own fan base.

V.V. Mohalla and Gokulam are fantastic for cafes, while Vijaynagar Chat Street and Siddhartha Layout Chat Street have great veg and non-veg options.
