exclusive: congress leader claims 110 seats for party in maharashtra, says people wants party to win

New Delhi: Amid the seat sharing tussle between the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners, Congress’ Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that the party Opposition in Maharashtra Vijay Wadettiwarshould get at least 110 seats in the state.

In an exclusive conversation with Times Now, Vijay Wadettiwar said, "Every party wants to contest on more seats. But we had performed well in Lok Sabha elections even though we had got less number of seats. So we believe that people want Congress in Maharashtra. It is my personal opinion that we should contest at least 110 seats."

As the suspense continues over the seat sharing formula of MVA, sources have informed Times Now that the party MP Rahul Gandhi is also upset with the Maharashtra Congress leaders over negotiating talks with the alliance partners.

During the CEC meeting, on Friday, Rahul Gandhi expressed displeasure on the seats given to Shiv Sena in the region of Mumbai and Vidarbha stating that the state leaders didn't play proper role during negotiation talks, sources informed.

While confirming it, Wadettiwar stated, "Rahul Gandhi was of the view that we should get those seats where we are having a stronghold. We are holding talks with the alliance partners. We are trying."

Rift in MVA is also widening as the Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azami has also given an ultimatum that if the seat sharing formula won't be announced today then he will field 25 candidates in the Assembly elections.

When asked about this matter, the Congress leader replied, "It takes time to finalize the seats when there are so many parties in alliance. But by today evening we are hopeful that we will take a decision. We have left some seats for SP. Cong has also decided that if needed, we would also spare some seats for SP."

However, the Aam Aadmi Party, on Saturday, has made an official announcement that it won't field any candidate in the Assembly elections but would support the MVA. The Congress leader informed that the negotiation talks have reached to the final stage and the regional parties would also get a respectable share in the state.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress incharge Ramesh Chennithala made a scathing attack upon Abu Azami, stating, "Had we (Congress) got this respect in UP? We are also supporting SP. Here, at least we are giving some seats to SP."
