Kochi: A woman was found dead with her throat slit and her three-year-old daughter was hospitalised with serious injuries in the city’s Mulavukad area on Thursday. Police are of the view that the woman died by suicide. However, they are looking at all possible angles in the case.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Dhanika Prabhakar, wife of Ramakrishnan K, of Mulavukad. The woman's throat was slit and her daughter was also found with a deep-cut injury on her neck. Cops say prima facie it seems the woman killed herself after trying to murder her daughter. She was reportedly undergoing treatment for mental health issues, reported TOI.
The report cited sources as saying that the couple are from Tamil Nadu, and Ramakrishnan worked at a private bank at Kaloor. The family had been staying at Mulavukad, where they had constructed a new house. Neighbours reportedly told the police that the couple would fight often and they would stay in separate rooms.
The woman and daughter were sleeping in a different room, the said, quoted TOI. Ramakrishnan found his wife's body at around 9 am on Thursday and alerted the police. The officials also found a knife in the room.
