mumbai police begins extradition process to bring back lawrence bishnoi's brother anmol from us

Mumbai: Days after being declared ‘most wanted’ by the National Investigative Agency (NIA), the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has begun the extradition process to bring back Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Anmol Bishnoi, who has been accused of being involved in coordinated attacks on former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique earlier this month and firing on actor Salman Khan's residence in April this year, was last traced in the US and has been accused of running operations from there.

According to police sources, a special Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MACOCA) court has earlier issued a non-bailable warrant for Anmol Bishnoi's arrest, along with a red corner notice to search for him abroad.

Anmol Bishnoi has also been accused of threatening several Punjabi singers not only in India but also in Canada. Further, in the recent killing of Baba Siddique, Anmol was in touch with the shooters through messaging app Snapchat before the murder, claimed the Mumbai Crime Branch.

When the Snapchat of the arrested accused was examined, it was found that the shooters and Pune-based Praveen Lonkar, alleged to be the mastermind, were directly in touch with Anmol Bishnoi and used to delete the messages after receiving them, the cops said.

Following this, the NIA announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi. Anmol is chargesheeted in two NIA cases registered in 2022. Two years ago, India's federal probe agency had filed two FIRs against gangsters who have now morphed into terrorists.

NIA has accused them of running drug trafficking, International extortion rackets and supporting Punjab-based terror operatives. The federal agency has included Anmol Bishnoi in its ‘most wanted’ list and has urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in his capture.
