New York: Former US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the United States next week. The Republican presidential candidate made the statement while campaigning in Michigan, praising PM Modi as “fantastic man.” Trump remarked, “He happens to be coming to meet me next week,” but did not disclose further details about their meeting.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit the US from September 21 to 23, where he will participate in the Quad Summit and address the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This will be the fourth Quad Leaders' Summit, hosted by US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. Modi will also engage with the Indian community in New York on Sunday.

The summit will bring together Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan. The Biden-Harris Administration has prioritised the Quad alliance, building on the momentum of the first summit at the White House in 2021 and subsequent annual meetings.
The primary focus of this summit will be to enhance strategic alignment among the Quad nations and to advance a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Key topics will include health security, disaster response, maritime security, infrastructure development, emerging technologies, climate and clean energy, and cybersecurity.
During his visit, PM Modi will discuss key areas of collaboration with leading US-based CEOs in sectors such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology, as stated by the foreign ministry. Additionally, he is expected to interact with thought leaders and other stakeholders involved in the India-US bilateral relationship. The last meeting between PM Modi and Donald Trump took place in February 2020 during Trump's visit to India, which Modi described as a "path-breaking" moment in strengthening ties between the two nations.
