Meryl Streep, who is back as a guest star on the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building on Disney+ Hotstar, is booking her next television role. She is set to star in The Corrections, which will be adapted from Jonathan Franzen’s 2001 novel. The series doesn’t have a streaming platform yet; CBS Studios is also attached to the project as a producer.
Meryl Streep to star The Corrections
According to a report in Variety, Meryl Streep will lead the series adaptation of The Corrections. The adaptation of Franzen’s novel has been attempted several times before. A film version and an HBO series, with Chris Cooper, Dianne Wiest, and Ewan McGregor, were earlier planned before being abandoned altogether. Other cast members of the series adaptation have yet to be announced.
The 2001 novel is set in Midwest America about an older couple who host a Christmas reunion with their three adult children because of the father's ill health. Franzen will adapt his novel for the screen, making his TV debut. He will serve as executive producer on the series.

The veteran actress was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance onOnly Murders in the Building Season 3. She returned as Loretta Durkin alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez for Season 4 as well. Prior to that, she was part of the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies with co-stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Streep was also part of the 2023 Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations, which featured Indian actor Adarsh Gourav.
Streep has received 21 Oscar nominations in her nearly five-decade career. She has won the Oscar thrice for the films Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, andThe Iron Lady.
