Meghan Markle just made a surprise public appearance, and of course, the internet can't keep calm! Strutting down the red carpet for a gala, the Duchess of Sussex showcased her commitment to sustainability by upcycling one of her previously worn gowns.
For the unversed, Meghan Markle was recently spotted at the 2024 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala, which was notably attended by several other celebrities, including Demi Lovato, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jimmy Kimmel, who took on the role of honorary co-chair for the gala.
For the all important cause, she picked out a striking red Carolina Herrera halter-neck dress with a daring slit. And the kicker? The dress seems to be a revamped version of a ballgown she had previously worn at the Salute to Freedom Gala in 2021.
To compliment her look, Meghan picked out matching sandals from Aquazzura, along with a gold Cartier Love bracelet and a diamond ring. Her hair was styled in soft beachy waves, while her makeup was kept minimal with rosy blush and a subtle nude lip.

As for her previous stint with the dress, during the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala, she wore a much grander version of the gown, making headlines by accessorizing her ensemble with Princess Diana’s iconic diamond tennis bracelet.

She has worn this special piece on various occasions since receiving it from her husband, Prince Harry, in 2018. In a touching gesture, Prince Harry had two diamonds removed from the Cartier bracelet to create Markle’s engagement ring. The single-strand bracelet boasts around 20 carats of diamonds and is estimated to be worth about $150,000. Princes Diana was famously photographed wearing the bracelet at significant events, including a preview for her 1997 dress auction and a Red Cross gala earlier that year.
