Pickleball has seen a massive boom in popularity over the last few years. Projected as the USA’s most popular sport, the pickleball storm is all set to take over India in the next few years. Recently, Pickleball League Asia Private Limited in association with The Times Group launched the Pickleball World Rankings (PWR) at a grand event in Dubai on July 24. With the much-anticipated PWR schedule announced, the PWR DUPR India Masters will be the first event in the PWR DUPR Indian Tour. The event will take place at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium and it has a prize money of $50000. The competition will commence on October 24 and will conclude on October 27.

Famous for his insane trick shots and aggressive playstyle, Asia’s top pickleball player Willy Chung will grace the PWR DUPR India Masters aiming to stand out from the rest of the competitors.

Who is Willy Chung?

Chung is a Lunar Pickleball player and has already proved his credentials in both singles and doubles. Already a known name in the pickleball circuit in Taiwan and Asia, Chung could emerge as the one of the potential contenders for the inaugural PWR DUPR India Masters title. Having won the Asia Open last year, Chung would fancy his chances to leave a lasting effect on the tournament.

PWR aims to improve sports governance and future longevity by uniting regional groups under a single, cohesive structure with the intention of revolutionising the sport. It has all the ingredients to become the next big thing on Indian soil. The racquet sport's less complicated playing style has made it popular among all age groups and the PWR will further help to boost pickleball's growth in India.

The PWR Indian Tour will have an exciting schedule and it will make a stop in Mumbai and Tsu, Japan, followed by Ahmedabad (March 2025), Pune (June 2025), Bengaluru (August 2025), Hyderabad (September 2025), New Delhi (October 2025) and Chennai (November 2025).
