The sheer number of billionaires around the world is increasing every year — the US boasts 813 billionaires worth a combined $5.7 trillion, according to Forbes. China is second, with 473 (including Hong Kong) worth $1.7 trillion. This also means that the number of very young billionaires, fresh out of their teens, is also rising.

Brazilian heiress Livia Voigt, 20, is the youngest billionaire in the world in 2024. Born on 10 July 2004, Livia is worth $1.3 billion. In fact, she joined the ranks of billionaires when she was a teenager, at 19 years old. According to Forbes, Livia “is one of the largest individual shareholders of WEG, the largest manufacturer of electric motors in Latin America.” The company was co-founded by her late grandfather, Werner Ricardo Voigt. Livia is still in college and is studying psychology. She maintains a low profile and lives with her family in Florianópolis, Brazil.

She took over the title from Clement Del Vecchio, the son of Leonardo Del Vecchio, the late chairman of EssilorLuxottica, the world's largest eyeglasses firm. Clement is two months older than Livia, and has a net worth of $5.1 billion.

Another 20-year-old on the list of youngest billionaires is South Korean gaming heiress Kim Jung-youn, who owns 18% of NXC, the largest shareholder in the online gaming giant Nexon. In 2022, she became the youngest billionaire at the age of 18, inheriting approximately US$2.5 billion in company stakes after her father, Kim Jung-ju, passed away in February of the same year. Her net worth amounted to US$1 billion after a significant inheritance tax.
