Erik Ten Hag's Chaotic Tenure As Manchester United Manager
Ten Hag took charge of Manchester United ahead of the 2022-23 season and stared his tenure with back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford. His first season saw a public stand off with Cristiano Ronaldo which saw the Portugese leave the club.
However, the Dutch coach turned around the club's fortunes as United return to the Champions League in his first season after finishing third in the table. They also ended a six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup in 2023.
The second season saw United's form slide as their season bad from worse as they were knocked out in the group stage of the Champions League and finish 8th in the Premier League table. However, they won the FA Cup after a dramatic victory over Premier League champions Manchester City.
While there were suggestions Ten Hag was set to be sacked at the end of last season, the truimph at Wembley ensured he got another seaosn in charge. However, Manchester United have made a horror start to the 2024-25 season and are 14th in the table as things stand in the league while they are yet to win a match in the Europa League and are 21st in the table.
