bengaluru vlogger murder: man accused of stabbing assam girl to death arrested

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police arrested Aarav, the accused in the murder of Assam girl Maya Gogoi at a service apartment, on Friday. According to the DCP East, he was arrested by the police outside Karnataka.

Assam-based vlogger Maya Gogoi was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Aarav Hanoy. Police reports indicate that after killing her, Hanoy remained in the service apartment in Indiranagar for two days with her lifeless body, smoking cigarettes while sitting in front of the corpse. The murder was discovered on Tuesday when the Indiranagar police were alerted. According to police sources, the accused, Aarav Hanoy, had checked into the service apartment with Maya on Saturday, November 23. It is suspected that Maya was murdered around midnight on Sunday. The chilling detail that has emerged is that Hanoy stayed with her body for two days, smoking and sitting next to her.

Maya, who lived with her sister in Bengaluru's HSR Layout, had told her sibling that she would be attending an office party on Friday. The following day, she messaged again, saying she would be out partying that night as well. Police believe that Maya had been in a relationship with Aarav for the past six months after they met on social media. Investigations revealed that when Hanoy checked into the service apartment, he had brought a knife with him and had purchased a nylon rope online, suggesting the murder may have been premeditated.

After the murder, Aarav Hanoy left the service apartment and took a taxi to the Majestic area in Bengaluru’s Central Business District. Once there, he switched off his phone, making it more difficult for police to track him.
