New Delhi: An unidentified man was found dead near a flyover in North Delhi on Sunday morning, according to police reports. Authorities received an emergency call at 6:35 AM alerting them to a man lying near the Geeta Colony flyover. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the body showing signs of severe injuries. The victim had multiple marks on his face, head, and neck, believed to have been caused by a sharp object.
Police are currently investigating the incident, though the circumstances surrounding the man's death remain unclear. A forensic team examined the area for evidence, he added.
Efforts are underway to identify the and ascertain the cause of his death, the officer said. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed and a case of murder has been registered, he said.
In a separate incident, a 64-year-old man was reportedly stabbed to death in the Panchsheel Park area of South Delhi, police confirmed on Wednesday. According to police, they received an emergency call at 9:25 AM on Monday from a man who claimed to have found his father unconscious and lying in a pool of blood. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim, identified as Rohit Kumar.
A murder case has been registered by the Malviya Nagar police station, and investigations are currently underway. Police are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime and are exploring all possible leads.
The deceased lived with his younger son in Panchsheel Park. The incident came to light after a car cleaner knocked on Kumar's room seeking keys but did not get any response, the officer said.
When Kumar's son living in the next room opened the door, he found his father was lying on the floor, he said, adding that nothing was stolen from the room.
A forensic team has inspected the spot and found blood stains and footprints on the floor, the officer said.
