malayalam actor booked for 'rude behaviour' at hyderabad airport

Hyderabad: Malayalam actor Vinayakan was on Saturday booked under the city police act by the RGI Airport police here following a complaint that he behaved rudely with the gate staff at the aerodrome in Hyderabad.

Vinayakan, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, would be let off after questioning, police said.

The actor, who was flying from Kochi to Goa via Hyderabad, allegedly argued and spoke rudely with the gate staff of an airline on Saturday evening, after which he was handed over to the CISF, PTI reported.

He was taken into custody following a complaint by the CISF, police added.

Vinayakan has acted in Malayalam films like "Kammatipaadam" and "Thottappan", showcasing his versatility as a character actor.

Hailing from Kochi, Vinayakan was widely appreciated for his role as a villain in the Rajinikanth-starrer movie 'Jailer'.

In a different unrelated case, the excise police seized several kilogram of whiskey-laced ice cream in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills. The team confiscated around 11.5 kg of whiskey ice cream and arrested several individuals involved in the racket. The seizure took place at Ariko Cafe Ice Cream Parlour, operated in Road No. 1 and 5 in Jubilee Hills.

The excise officials found that whiskey ice creams were being sold openly here. The parlor, operated by Sharath Chandra Reddy, was mixing 60 ml of whiskey into each kilogram of ice cream and selling it at high prices.

The accused, Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, were also advertising their product on Facebook to attract more customers. A case has been registered against the accused.

Meanwhile, the Excise Department also seized non-duty-paid liquor worth Rs 3.85 lakhs in the city at RTC Cross Roads on Thursday. Gopal Agrawal, a resident of Attapur, brought the liquor from Chandigarh in a vehicle, officials said, quoted ANI.

The accused, the officials added, was trying to sell this liquor in Hyderabad at a higher price.

"The accused had purchased the liquor at Rs 1.32 lakh in Chandigarh and was planning to sell it in Hyderabad for Rs 4 lakh and trying to make a profit by selling the liquor at a higher price in Hyderabad," the Excise Department said in a press statement.

Notably, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy had last month announced that all establishments except liquor shops, would now remain open in the city till 1 am in the night. Speaking in the assembly, Reddy said that the liquor shops will be closed on time only.

"Daru ke mai khilaf hu, jitni jada khula rakhenge log peeyenge (I am against liquor, people will keep consuming alcohol as long as it is allowed to remain open)," the CM said while making the announcement. Reddy said he had last week called a meeting with commissioners and had discussed this proposal.

"All establishments except liquor shops are allowed to remain open till 1 am in Hyderabad," the CM declared.
