luxury watchmakers patek philippe stump the world with first new collection in 25 years

For the first time in 25 years, luxury watchmaker Patek Philippe has debuted a brand new watch collection, dubbed the Cubitus collection. The new collection marks the brand's first new line in over two decades since the launches of the Aquanaut and Twenty~4.

Unveiled at a private event in Munich, Germany, on October 17, the Cubitus features a striking square case with rounded edges and horizontal embossing, blending sporty aesthetics with classic elegance. “When I looked at our history, we hadn’t done much with square watches, especially for a younger audience,” Thierry Stern, president of Patek Philippe, noted.

The collection includes three distinct models: the Cubitus Instantaneous Grand Date, Day and Moon Phases in platinum, the two-tone variant in steel and rose gold with a blue sunburst dial, and a steel model showcasing an olive-green sunburst dial. All models are sized at 45mm, offering a masculine yet sophisticated profile that sits comfortably on the wrist.

As per reports, the design process for the Cubitus took six years, encompassing four years focused on the aesthetics and an additional two years dedicated to movement development. While some elements are inspired by the popular Nautilus, the design team aimed to create a unique identity for this new collection, with Patek Philippe describing it as "the little brother of the Nautilus."

Of course, when it comes to Patek Philippe, you won't be getting any low-end price points. Pricing is set at US$41K for the entry-level model featuring the green dial, $61k for the rose gold and steel with the blue dial, and $88k for the platinum version with the strap. “We are Patek Philippe, and we will never make a watch for €5,000 or €10,000. That’s not our segment,” Stern noted in an article by Business Today.
