Kriti Sanon plays a double role in the Netflix film, Do Patti. Co-starring Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh, the subject of the thriller revolves around domestic violence. Do Patti is directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi. Kriti is co-producing the film with writer-producer Kanika Dhillon.
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Kriti revealed whether she could emotionally detach herself from the on-screen character. The actress said she was always inclined towards producing a film that talks about the subject more deeply.
Emotionally invested in Do Patti: Kriti
Kriti shared, “I was emotionally invested (in Do Patti). I don’t think I ended up detaching myself. It started with the fact that I wanted to produce something and tell a story that talks about this subject a little more deeply. A lot of films have been done well but I felt there was a lot more depth in it and it had to be hard-hitting. It is a hard-hitting reality and it is getting worse. The idea was to do it as sensitively as we could without shying away from really showing and talking (about domestic violence).”

Domestic violence is someone's reality
She added, “When you do those scenes, it is not possible for it to not affect you at all. It does affect you. You have to feel it, go through it and move on. That is just a scene and I know that. But, that’s someone’s reality. That is scary.”
Do Patti releases on Netflix on October 25. It is produced by Kriti’s Blue Butterfly Films and Kanika’s Kathha Pictures. The film follows the story of Saumya (Kriti Sanon) and her husband Dhruv Sood (Shaheer Sheikh). The tale gets twisted with the arrival of Saumya’s twin Shailee. Police inspector Vidya Jyothi (Kajol) has to navigate through roads of lies and secrets.
