Kolkata: Residents of Kolkata must be eager to know how the weather will be during the main days of Durga Pujo. On Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a special bulletin for West Bengal’s Durga Puja celebrations. Somnath Dutta, Head of the Eastern Region Meteorological Department, stated, “We have issued a special date-wise weather forecast for Durga Puja.” The bulletin indicates that light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected during the festival period.
For South Bengal, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely across all districts on October 5. From October 6 to October 9, similar weather conditions are expected at a few locations throughout the region. Between October 10 and October 13, light rain and thundershowers may occur in some areas as well, according to the IMD.
In Kolkata, the forecast indicates a generally cloudy sky on October 5, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers very likely. On October 6, the city of joy will likely experience a cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers. From October 7 to October 9, a partly cloudy sky is expected, along with light rain and thundershowers in some areas. From October 10 to October 13, as per IMD, the trend of partly cloudy skies with light rain and thundershowers may continue in some regions.
In North Bengal, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are anticipated on October 5, affecting many areas across all districts. Heavy rainfall, ranging from 7 to 11 cm, is expected in one or two locations in Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and South Dinajpur. On October 6, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at a few places in all districts. IMD added that the rain is expected to continue in various districts, particularly in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, and Alipurduar, from October 7 to October 9.
