According to the Hindu Calendar, Karwachauth fast falls on Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik Month. This year Karwachauth falls on 20th October 2024. The Fast is observed by married women with rituals for the long life and good health of their husbands.
In this fast, women worship Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati, Lord Ganesha, and Kartikeya. The fast of Karwachauth is difficult, as one cannot consume food or even water throughout the day. The fast is broken after Chandra Darshan and offering Arghya.

Clay or copper vessel and its lid, Betel Leaf, Stick, Urn, Whole rice grains, Fruits, Flowers, Turmeric, Desi Ghee, Raw Milk, Honey, Sugar Powder, Roli, Mauli, Sweets
Karwa Chauth Puja Vidhi
- Get Up in Bhrama Muhurta and take a bath
- Clean the temple and house
- Worship all the Gods and Goddesses according to the rituals.
- Promise to keep Karwachauth fast properly.
- Recite the Karwachauth Vrat Katha in the evening at an auspicious time.
- After that, worship the moon.
- Offer Arghya after Chandra Darshan
- Perform Aarti after looking at your husband through a sieve
- Then the husband must break the fast by giving water to his wife and letting her drink from his hand.
