Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar disclosed that he has not seen a movie in 25 years. He was speaking after unveiling the showreel for the Kannada film Tamate, directed by Mayur Patel and featuring Madan Patel in the lead role.

DK Shivakumar expressed his enthusiasm for the film saying that he once used to run touring talkies and further revealed that it had been 25 years since he last watched a movie.
After viewing the Tamate show reel for half an hour, he praised the film, saying, “The film is very good. I will watch the whole movie when I get time.”
He also acknowledged the contributions of Madan Patel, noting that he was pleased to learn his son, Mayur Patel, directed the film.
The storyline, which revolves around the life of a tamate musician from a rural village, was highlighted as a significant aspect of the film. DK Shivakumar extended his best wishes for the movie's success.

Madan Patel
Madan Patel, who is both the actor and producer of Tamate, shared insights about the film’s origins.
"I wrote this novel a few years ago. Now it is directed by my son Mayur Patel,” he said, adding that he had never taken on a leading role before and expressed gratitude for the support from the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar despite his busy schedule.
Tamate has already garnered attention, having been screened at various film festivals.
Director Mayur Patel reflected on the journey of adapting the novel into a film, revealing his initial ambition to transform his father's work into a movie.
He recounted how he encouraged his father to take on the lead role, leading to Madan Patel’s prominent performance in Tamate.
