US Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris' father, despite living one mile away from the White House, has never visited her, a report said.
There is no record of Harris' father, Donald J. Harris, meeting his famous daughter in the White House, the Daily Mail reported. During her three-and-a-half-year tenure, there was no record of Harris' father ever making a visit to the White House, despite the proximity, the report said.
According to the report, there are no recent public photographs of the two. Moreover, Harris has previously described the relationship between her and her father as 'not close', the report said.
Harris told the crowd at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) that her father encouraged her to be fearless, the report said. However, she added, 'It was mostly my mother who raised us.'
Harris' father is a former professor of economics and is a radical Marxist. According to Kamala's 2019 memoir, her parents 'stopped being kind to each other'.
As per Kamala's father's 2018 essay for the 'Jamaica Global' website, Donald recalled how the 'early phase of interaction with my children came to an abrupt halt in 1972.'
According to the report, her father was not amused by her remarks on Marijuana.
While rejecting the idea that she opposed the legalisation of marijuana, the current Vice President said, "That's not true. And look, I joke about it, half joking – half my family's from Jamaica, are you kidding me?"
In response to Harris's remarks, Donald told a Jamaican news outlet: 'My dear departed grandmothers, as well as my deceased parents must be turning in their grave right now. Speaking for myself and my immediate Jamaican family, we wish to categorically dissociate ourselves from this travesty.'
