kamala harris loses us presidential election to donald trump - what's next for democrat leader?

Republican nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday registered a thumping victory in the US Presidential Elections 2024 defeating his Democrat opponent and country's Vice President Kamala Harris. The Democrat nominee is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants. Her dream to become the first woman President of the US was shattered after the defeat.

Almost a decade ago, a journalist called Harris a 'female Obama', reported PTI. However, Harris failed to match the achievement of first African-American president Barack Obama. Notably, She has been the district attorney for San Francisco — the first woman, first African-American and first Indian-origin person to be elected to the position.

What's Next For Kamala Harris After the Loss?

Notably, Harris has not yet conceded defeat as counting is still underway in some states. If Harris is not satisfied with the outcome of the polls, she can approach the Supreme Court and can demand a recounting. However, the chances are very less as Trump has already won the swing states of Georgia and North Carolina. He is also leading in the remaining five – Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Reactions Of Residents Kamala Harris's Maternal Village In India:

Residents of Thulasendrapuram, the village of the Democrat leader's maternal ancestors exuded confidence in her comeback. Since morning, locals were glued to television screens, monitoring election results, and many checked trends on media websites. Several residents also visited the Sri Dharma Sastha Perumal temple to pray for Harris's victory, reported PTI.

However, as the day progressed, it became pretty clear that it was Donald Trump who was leading and when he eventually defeated his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, Thulasendrapuram village, which teemed with local and outside people, gradually became deserted and returned to its usual state of quietude. Two Americans and a citizen of the UK, fans of Harris, who had landed in the village the day before left the place.

"We were hoping for her victory and had planned celebrations bigger than Deepavali. We made arrangements to burst firecrackers, distribute sweets, offer temple pujas, and host a community lunch," J Sudhakar, DMK Tiruvarur district representative and Thulasendrapuram village leader, told PTI.

On Wednesday, Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States. World leaders, including from India, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Israel, Italy and Ukraine, Wednesday congratulated Republican leader Donald Trump for his "historic" comeback in the US presidential election.
