Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar have established themselves as two of the most respected figures in Bollywood, a feat achieved through years of unwavering dedication and hard work. Recently, director Vasan Bala talked about their journey and stated that their success in the industry is not a matter of chance but a result of their relentless effort toward their work.

Vasan Bala lauds Karan-Alia and talks about Jigra's box-office performance

During a conversation with the media portal, the Jigra director emphasised that Karan Johar’s fame within the industry was not inherited but earned. He told VOA India, “A lot of resources go into making a movie, and it’s also that both the star and producer have earned a reputation for themselves. Karan ko viraasat mein nahi mili hai (Karan did not get this in his inheritance); he has made the biggest blockbusters and earned this position for himself. And Alia has also earned it over 10 years,”

Going forward, Vasan Bala discussed the importance of box office performance and pointed out that the financial success of a film reflects the hard-earned reputations of both stars and producers. He stated, “Box office matters because it’s not my money. Filmmaking is an expensive art form, and both Karan and Alia have built their reputations through hard-earned success.”

He also called Alia Bhatt 'wise'. The actress has earned significant acclaim for her versatility as an actress. Over the past decade, she proved her mettle at the box office and impressed the audience with her performance.

The filmmaker said, "She’s very instinctive, I would always choose the word ‘wise’ for her because she isn’t calculative at all. She doesn’t calculate what she’s doing as the hero. So, every time we decide on something right before the scene, there is a small discussion, and that small discussion starts and ends very quickly… With Satya, it’s all about need, not want. There is a kind of greed associated with wants, but needs are always pure.”
