The latest development in Jani Master’s case seems to have brought more embarrassment and trouble to the choreographer. A couple of days ago, a local court in Hyderabad granted Jani Master conditional interim bail for four days bail (from October 6 – October 10) to attend the National Film Award ceremony. But according to National Film Award Cell, Jani Master’s award has been suspended.
Awards Committee Suspends National Award
In view of the seriousness of the allegation and the matter being sub Judice, the competent authority has decided to suspend the National Film Award of the Best Choreography for the Year 2022 to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the film Thiruchitrambalam until further orders, the letter read.
Invitation To Jani Master Withdrawn
A letter from the National Film Awards Cell dated 21.8.24 and, thereafter, on 12.9.24 to attend National Film Award function for the year 2022 had been extended to Shri Shaik Jani Basha before the allegations of crime under POCSO Act came to light. Hence, the invitation extended to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the 70th National Film Awards Function to be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 8.10.24 is hereby ‘withdrawn.’
Jani along with Satish Krishnan won the national award for choreographing the song ‘Megham Karukatha’ from the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam. A couple of days ago, the Ranga Reddy court in Hyderabad has granted interim bail to Jani Mater to attend the National Film Award ceremony on October 8. But the latest decision of the competent authority to suspend his National Award brought more humiliation to the choreographer.
