Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, will face Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight champion. Since retiring from professional fighting in 2005, 58-year-old Tyson has not faced anyone professionally for over 19 years. The celebrity encounter Friday will offer fans of Tyson a dose of nostalgia, even as Jake Paul, at 27, is the outright favourite to win.

The fight will take place at the AT&T Arena, in Arlington, Texas. The venue normally serves as the home ground of the National Football League franchise, Dallas Cowboys.

The duo was originally scheduled to meet in July this year at the same venue, but it was postponed to November 15 after Mike Tyson suffered a stomach ulcer. Despite the celebrity nature of the fight, the state of Texas has qualified it as a professional fight, albeit with some changes in the official rules.

The aura around the fight gained further momentum on Thursday after Jake Paul and Mike Tyson met for the weigh-in. Surprising all, Tyson slapped Jake Paul, sparking a minor scuffle on the stage. The duo had to be forcefully separated by their respective entourages.

Notably, several other US states refused to sanction the fight because of the age difference between Paul and Tyson. Texas agreed, albeit after changing the rules slightly. There will be eight rounds of two minutes each and both the boxers will wear heavier gloves.

The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight will be broadcast live on Netflix.
