Jerusalem: Israel carried out airstrikes in Lebanon early Sunday, targeting positions linked to the Shiite militia Hezbollah, according to the Israeli military. The military alleged that Hezbollah was “preparing to file missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory.”

”‎‏In a self-defense act to remove these threats, the (Israeli military) is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians,” Israeli military spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said.

Meanwhile, Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport has diverted incoming flights and delayed others following Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

Hagari cautioned that Hezbollah was likely to “soon fire rockets, and possibly missiles and” drones into Israel.” Shortly after the warning, sirens blared in northern Israel. Lebanese media reported airstrikes in the southern part of the country, though details were initially scarce. Footage circulating on social media showed the strikes taking place in southern Lebanon.
