iphone 16, apple watch series 10, watch ultra 3, airpods 4 to launch today at apple event 2024: what to expect

Apple’s highly anticipated “It’s Glowtime” event is finally here, promising a slew of exciting announcements. Taking place today, September 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT (10:30 p.m. IST) at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, this event will be streamed live across Apple’s official website, YouTube channel, and Apple TV app. Fans and tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the debut of the iPhone 16 series, which includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Additionally, Apple is set to reveal the Apple Watch Series 10, Watch Ultra 3, and new AirPods 4. Here’s what you can expect from today’s Apple event.

iPhone 16 Series

Apple will reveal four new models in the iPhone 16 lineup – the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to look similar to last year’s models with their 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, but with a fresh design twist. Instead of the diagonal camera layout seen in previous models, these new phones will feature a vertical, pill-shaped cut-out aimed at enhancing spatial video recording.

Inside, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be powered by the new Apple A18 chipset and come with 8GB of RAM, an upgrade from last year's 6GB. These improvements are designed to support new AI-driven features, known as Apple Intelligence, which will be integrated into the upcoming iOS 18. The standard models will also include the Action Button, which was first introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Moving on to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, these models will boast larger displays – 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max. They are expected to incorporate Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology, potentially leading to much slimmer bezels. These Pro models will be powered by the A18 Pro chipset and will come with 8GB of RAM and an upgraded Neural Engine for enhanced AI performance.

A standout feature will be the new camera system, with a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens on both Pro models, up from 12MP last year. The iPhone 16 Pro will also gain a 5x optical zoom on its telephoto lens, matching the Pro Max.

Rumours suggest a new touch-sensitive 'Capture Button' across the iPhone 16 lineup for precise photo-taking.

AirPods 4 and Apple Watch Updates

Apple is also expected to unveil the new AirPods 4, which will come in two variants – a mid-level version with active noise cancellation (ANC) and a standard model without ANC. The premium AirPods 4 may also include an advanced case with a built-in speaker and Apple’s Find My integration.

Additionally, Apple is expected to launch the Watch SE 3, Watch Series 10, and the Watch Ultra 3. These updates are set to enhance the wearables market with new features and designs.
