infosys sets this date for 2022 graduates' joining, sends letters to 1,000+ recruits

Infosys has begun the process of onboarding engineering graduates from the 2022 batch, with many receiving notifications about their joining dates and other offer terms, according to sources. Although IT union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) claims that the company has issued appointment letters to over 1,000 campus recruits, Infosys has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

Sources confirmed that Infosys has reached out to campus hires from the 2022 batch, with onboarding formalities underway. The process is expected to commence from the end of September or early October.

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh recently reassured that the company would honour all offers made to freshers, despite some adjustments to the original joining dates. In an interview with PTI, Parekh stated, "Every offer that we have given will be honoured. We changed some dates, but beyond that, everyone will join Infosys, and there is no change in that approach." His remarks came in response to concerns over delays in onboarding approximately 2,000 engineering graduates over the past two years.

NITES, which has been vocal about the delays, announced in a statement on Monday that Infosys has now issued appointment letters to over 1,000 campus hires, with more expected to follow. The confirmed joining date for these new employees is set for October 7, 2024. Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, hailed this development as a significant victory for the union and the students who had been left in uncertainty. However, Saluja also warned that the union remains vigilant and will take action if Infosys fails to honour the newly committed joining dates.

Previously, NITES had filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment against Infosys for the delays in onboarding 2,000 engineering graduates recruited during the 2022-23 drive for system engineer and digital specialist engineer roles.
