The Indian cricket team produced a batting performance for the ages during the fourth day of the second Test match between Green Park Stadium in Kanpur Stadium as they pushed the accelerator button from the start in the hope of forcing a result in the rain-hit Test match.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the team a rapid start; they brought up the 50-run mark in just three overs. While Rohit departed after making 23 runs in 11 balls, Jaiswal completed another half-century and made 72 runs in 51 balls. Later, KL Rahul hit a half-century (68 in 43 balls), while Virat Kohli (47 in 35 balls) and Shubmam Gill (39 in 36 balls) also played quick-fire knocks.
India declared the inning with 285 runs on the board in just 34.4 overs and scripted a record-breaking performance.

India ended with a run rate of 8.22, making it the fastest Test innings by a team for a score above 200. The Rohit-led outfit is the first team in Test cricket history to score more than 200 runs at a run rate greater than eight. India broke Australia's record (7.53) set against Pakistan in 2017 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
