The first session of the second Test between India and Bangladesh got off to a delayed start owing to the overnight rain but once the match got underway, it didn't take Rohit Sharma's men to stamp their authority on the contest.
The Green Park venue was put under covers on Friday morning and the toss was delayed by an hour but the ground staff worked their socks off to get the play underway. India captain Rohit won the toss and elected to bowl first in a rather surprising call.
Akash Deep picked up two early wickets to put the hosts on top, his second wicket of Shadman Islam in particular came out of nothing. Rohit Sharma's million-dollar reaction summed up his emotions when the replays on the DRS showed three reds and the Indian players celebrated the dismissal.
Bangladesh were off to a resilient start by Akash Deep got rid of Zakir Hasan in his very first over. Shadman was sent back into the dugout shortly afterwards however, the dismissal didn't come without a dramatic turnaround.
The umpire had initially turned down India's appeal for an LBW, the bowler was adamant that Shadman was plumb. He stood his ground and managed to convince Rohit Sharma to go towards the third umpire. The DRS review showed that the ball eventually would clip the leg stump and the Indian captain was in disbelief.
He did however celebrate the wicket in ecstasy as he congratulated Akash Deep for his determined call and pin-point judgement which proved to be a masterstroke. Bangladesh lost both their openers within the first hour of play.

Bangladesh were able to recover somewhat from the two early blows courtesy of a solid partnership between the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque. They joined hands to steady the ship and bring back the visitors into the contest.
Earlier, reports claimed that Akash Deep or Mohammed Siraj might be rested from the second Test to accommodate homegrown lad Kuldeep Yadav but that wasn't the case as Rohit went for an unchanged side from the previous game sticking to his three pacers under the overcast weather.
