The IPL 2025 auction took place across two days on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 182 players were sold for a record Rs 639.5 crore. One of the biggest stories coming out of the auction was that of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore at just 13 years old. He thus created history by becoming the youngest ever player to be picked up in the history of the IPL auction. However, Suryavanshi will not be taking the entire Rs 1.1 crore at RR.
How Much Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi Earn At Rajasthan Royals?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi at 13 years old fetched a contract of Rs 1.1 crore per season. According to the Income Tax slab of the Government of India, a person who earns more than Rs 15 lakh per year will have to play 30% of his salary as income tax. Hence, Suryavanshi will take home a handsome Rs 77 lakhs at the end of the IPL for the next three seasons.
Who Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on May 27, 2011 in Bihar’s Tajpur village. He was born into a family of farmers, and started playing cricket at the age of 9. He made his debut for Bihar at just 12 years old in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he scored just 400 runs in 5 games.
He made his first-class debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy 2023 as just 12 years and 283 days. He thus became the youngest player to play the Ranji Trophy since 1986 and the second youngest to play for Bihar. Overall he was the fourth youngest player to play the Ranji Trophy
He made his India U-19 debut for India in a youth Test match against Australia in Chennai, thus making him the youngest player to play for India U-19. He also slammed a 64-ball century in his debut match. He is part of the India squad for the U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai.
