A massive fire at a waste recycling plant on Wallace Way, in Hitchin caused several road closures, authorities confirmed early on Friday. Fire authorities have warned people in the immediate area to keep their windows and doors closed while they tackle a fire on Wallace Way in Hertfordshire's Hitchin.

The official Twitter handle of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said, "We're currently dealing with a large fire at a waste recycling site on Wallace Way, Hitchin. We have had to close the junction of Cadwell Lane, Wilbury Way and Woolgrove Road to set up a high-volume pump. Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident."

The chaos has resulted in the closure of a junction between Cadwell Lane, Wilbury Way and Woolgrove Road. The Fire and Rescue Service officials said over 60 emergency calls had been made to report the fire.

According to reports, firefighters have been called to Global Ardour Recycling on Wallace Way several times.
