Heard A ‘Sonic Boom’ In Ventura? Here’s The Real Cause

A late night SpaceX launch is scheduled for Saturday at 10:13 pm at the Santa Barbara County base which might produce a loud sonic boom across the south of California. SpaceX will launch a series of satellites using its Falcon 9 rocket. The satellites will be launched into low Earth- orbit for One Web, an internet service provider.

The late night rocket launch will happen from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The rocket's first stage is expected to return to earth about 8 minutes after the launch. In the process of its return, "people may hear one or more sonic booms," SpaceX said.
